Bocchi Musume to get an English release by MangaGamer!

Oh boy, that was really unexpected!

Yesterday Frisday 1st of July, the game publishing company MangaGamer announced at its Anime Expo panel that it would be localising the R-18 otome game Bocchi Musume x Produce Keikaku, under the title of Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome. MangaGamer will release the all-ages version of the game on Steam and uncut adult version on its site.
A site has already been put up that previews the story and offers a synopsis to the game.
When two handsome young men spot the perfect girl to be their first model and help make a name for themselves, they're determined to go for broke and make her shine—but first they'll have to get her out of her house! Can these two really give such an anti-social recluse the makeover she needs to be a star? Or will she be the one to change them in this off-beat romantic comedy?

In case you pretties are interested or are considering buying the game, I reviewed Bocchi Musume last month and posted a spoiler talk too.

Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning! Otome games rarely get localised, much less R-18 ones, much less something so recent and not necessarily crazy popular like Hakuouki!! The again, Bocchi Musume really is the kind of game I can imagine MangaGamer releasing, so within how surprised I was I can see how this happened. Hopefully, if this game sells well, MangaGamer might try out other R-18 otoges in the future!
Well pretties, what is your reaction to the news? Since Bocchi Musume is so very gag heavy I mentioned in my review that playing it with just a translator whilst not knowing Japanese might be hard, but with this the language barrier has disappeared. Are you hoping to buy MangaGamer's release, or will you let this one slip? I'm assuming the all-ages version is just going to be the Sexy Switch Off version.
Personally I don't really have the need to buy the game twice, plus it wasn't a game that really blew me away, so I'll probably pass on the English release. I do admit however I'm very, very curious as to how they'll translate all the gags, and I encourage those interested to buy it so that the English otoge industry may get other future releases!

  1. I read your review for the game and was very intrigued by it! I'll probably give the all ages version on steam a go, since you said the 18+ content sucked anyways :P I agree there's better games that could be localised, but maybe by starting with the easy stuff we'll get better ones?

    1. Yeah, the H scenes were TERRIBLE. It's a real pity, because overall the game is a lot of fun to play and I had a really big laugh with it! If you feel like you MUST see the naughty scenes or if you're interested in it because of the R-18 content then sure, go ahead and buy the R-18 version, but you really won't be missing out on anything too amazing with the all-ages edition! :D

  2. This actually makes me so happy! I was already surprised by Ozmafia! being released, but see this one as well right after that and games like No, Thanks You!!! getting a release shows that MangaGamer is starting to really spread out who they're targeting, it's not all going to just be a bunch of horny dudes into incest VNs anymore, and THAT feels good.
